Established in 2006, Tanalea L. Belter Chartered Professional Accountant Inc. has been serving clients in the North Peace and surrounding areas with an unmatched attention to detail and personable approach; rapidly expanding its client base across the province.
We understand that dealing with Canada Revenue Agency filing obligations can be a daunting task. Tax filing deadlines, do's, don'ts, rules, guidelines and dealing with CRA agents can be overwhelming. ABOUT Tanalea (CPA, CGA)
With 4 generations of roots on both sides of her family and deep history in the Peace region, Tanalea serves her clients with great pride. “My great grandparents were the first family to settle in Cecil Lake in 1929. Their homestead is still almost standing and it’s an amazing experience to be able to walk where they walked and touch the past. I feel as though my ‘job’ is to carry on their legacy. I don’t say that lightly. I try to live it every day.”
In 1998, after graduating from Kwantlen University College in Richmond, BC with her accounting degree, Tanalea returned to Fort St John and began working at DG Smith & Company Chartered Accountants developing her own brand of service to clients.
In 2001, she earned her Certified General Accountant designation. At that time there were Chartered Accountants, Certified General Accountants and Certified Management Accountants. Since then, all have merged and now fall under the Chartered Professional Accountant designation. So now ya know.
In 2006, she felt the need and desire to go it on her own as scary as that felt. Starting her own firm allowed her to spread her wings, as it were, and approach what some consider a sterile, conservative, boring career in her own way, with her own style, in her own environment.
“I just knew that I had to make my own mark, sink or swim. I didn’t ‘fit’ where I was. I was too quirky. I’m even quirkier now. I am first and foremost a Mom, my kids are my world. My firm is my heart and my passion next to my kids. My husband is third on my list and he knows it! With the new renovations to the office and a fresh outlook on the future and what can be, more than ever I love walking through my doors.”
